Hello everybody it is me, your local Rosie Swayne.
I will be performing solo versions of songs from my comic/satirical show based on the politics of climate change entitled “FOSSILHEADS: The Future is Petrifying”
And guess what, it’s FREE ENTRY which means even YOU can definitely buy me a present with all the money you’ve instantly saved.
The Facebook event is here. Please click the ‘attending’ button so that everyone realises what a jolly good idea it would be to go.
Hope to see you there,
TLDR: here are some shows…
Well hello there, devoted fans.
I expect you’re constantly and frantically worrying about what I’m doing. Well calm yourself down, breath into a paper bag and I’ll tell you.
I am currently writing 2 v exciting new shows, and road testing material from them in the form of solo acoustic gigs.
A little personal info, just as a slight explanation as to why my projects are moving forwards SOMEWHAT slowly but EVER SO surely.
My partner is currently in the middle of her doctorate studies which it turns out, despite only being in the arts, is rather intensive and takes up a considerable amount of time. I had assumed it was essentially a creative writing weekend, but my friends, it is not.
Anyhoo the relevance of this is that it means that during the day I look after, play with and occasionally feed our 2 tiny but highly energetic kiddiwinkles, Basher and Bob. In the evenings, Outi and I switch over and I go to a rehearsal studio and write feverishly and abundantly in the night time – and definitely don’t spend the first hour just staring at a wall with my mouth slightly open and the second hour on Facebook.
The first show is called ‘FOSSILHEADS: The Future is Petrifying’ – a satirical show that explores the politics of climate change, and aims to solve that whole issue with the power of *jazzhands*. The plan is that it will initially be an album, recorded by my band Invocal and pals, but will eventually be a full on theatre production.
The second is currently called “Adventures in White Privilege” and explores the existence of structural racism with particular focus on the differing lived experiences of me, as a white Western European migrant in Finland in comparison to that of my co-writer Daniela Palos – a Romanian Roma mother of 4 that I have been working closely with for over 12 months now.
I’m sooo excited to get them finished and out there but in the mean time, these solo gigs are very exciting and enjoyable performances in their own right (for me at least) so you should definitely come TO ALL OF THEM.
Also, please join me on social media if you haven’t already, for fun times/laughter/maniacal political outbursts/calls to immediate revolution.
Love from Rosie xxx
